Ok, I’ve not had time to give this a full listen, I’ll be honest. But at first glance, this has the potential to knock me right the fuck out. Calypso is loud and rough with a bit of surf and lo-fi and it’s very catchy. I’m gonna get the EP Teen Age, and let you know how this pans out, one listen of the songs on their MySpace page has me a bit kerflempt, I’ll admit. Until then, sound in on “Casually Sad Mercedes” and tell me I’m crazy or not! Yeah I know some of you will yell “haircut band!” but I’m not so sure that’s a fair critique. and “haircut bands” are bands that are all fashion and no talent, they have the right haircut and clothes but their sound lasts as long as their outfits… about a season. I think this band might be the real deal and people who throw that kind of “haircut band” or “hipster” argument out do so all too easily. Just my opinion, tho. xoxo
Hey Tart that’s 2 bands in 2 months I’m going to stop coming here or it may get expensive…..Santiago is one of those stick in your head songs..and its going to drive me nuts. For what its worth they are too unfashionable to be haircutty and anyone who rips Wreckless Eric is cool by me. Good call cheers for that.
