Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman and Jenny Lee Lindberg make up Warpaint. I’m told they are all sorts of things: post-punk, shoegazey, ethereal, psychedelic, folk. I’ve not heard this album, somehow it slipped under my radar. Have you? Darlings let me know! I scoured my email tonight for a gem to post for you, I felt beholden to give you something since I’ve left LSB neglected long enough! And here is what I found, a swirly, soft, feminine little song with some bits of a cover of “My Girl” mixed in, “Billie Holiday” I kinda love it, even though I’m not a fan of the different parts of it, when you put them all together it just works somehow.
Don’t get the wrong idea about Warpaint, however. They are more than just a trio of sweet girly voices floating in the ether, making dulcet tones to lull you into a gentle sleep. Ha! Try “Elephants” out on your sleepy ears. Now tell me how versatile these women are and how much you want to hear the rest of this EP just to see what else they might be up to? Fucking hell. I missed this post. Warpaint are something quite special. I have scratchy mp3s from the original EP knocking about somewhere & Billie Holiday is a fucking brilliant song. Ta for reminding me.
