Well Matt, I fear it's gonna be difficult for Joe to top Hymn #101 or #35 for that matter. Those are incredible songs, the ones that won me over as I fought the hype for months and months. In The Meantime has some good bluesy stuff, the Dylanesque folk that you like, and is generally a nice, simple piece of work. I don't think you'll be disappointed. And well, if you do go see him in Glasgow, I'll consider my job done for the year! :) xoxo

You're so right, Agnes! I mean it's not like the Blogger Master is going to come over and give us a spanking for not keeping our promises, is it? (oh as if! ha!) Glad to hear I'm not the only one, xoxo

I have the Nation of Heat EP, which I like but don't love. Hymn #101 and I Do My father Drugs are both fantastic songs, particularly the former; wonderful Dylan-esque lyrics (they make me feel like a lonely soldier in a desert during the American Civil War for some reason!) and briliant vocals (he sings like he's got crabapples in his cheeks). But the others, while good, aren't exceptional. If he can maintain that quality over a whole album though then it will be a clear contender for album of the year for me. What's the new EP like? I think I'll get tickets to his Glasgow show.

I experienced some avoidance this last week too - I made the mistake of mentioning in a post that I'll review a few albums 'next week' - that was over two weeks ago now and I haven't managed to do it yet. The pressure!

I'm currently writing a few posts at once and scheduling them to appear throughout the week, in the hope that I won't feel so much pressure to post in the days to come.

It's silly though, this pressure we put on ourselves isn't it? I mean, it's not like we're going to get in trouble if we don't follow through on whatever internal schedules and plans that we make for our blogs, is it?
